In honor of his late parents Mr. and Mrs. Morris Sherman, resident and 2017 Oak Park Public Safety Citizen Academy Graduate Kenneth Sherman donated a Demanet Semi-Competition Bite Suit to the Oak Public Safety Department's Canine Unit. The suit was presented and Mr. Sherman was officially recognized at Monday's City Council Meeting for this generous gift that is critical to Canine Officer Mase's aggression training. The suit provides both the dog and the decoy protection and the ability to realistically train. According to Canine Handler Mike Hodakoski, he trains with Mase for up to two hours per day.

During the celebration, Mase demonstrated his ability to track and search. Did you now Mase is a narcotics dog certified in tracking, aggression, handler protection, article searches, building searches, area searches, and more. He knows how to find heroin, cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy.

Thank you, Mr. Sherman and family, for such a generous and thoughtful gift! To watch the ceremony, visit our YouTube Council Meeting archive at https://youtu.be/9LTCEhC_itI.
