The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, or GFOA, has awarded the City of Oak Park with the prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This certificate is the highest form of recognition for excellence in state and local government in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. The City of Oak Park received this honor for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 2017.

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is judged by an impartial panel to meet high program standards which include demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure." It is awarded to a government that must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report that satisfies both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements. The Certificate is valid for one year.
