The City of Oak Park Juneteenth Student Self Expression Contest has returned for 2023. This year though, the Juneteenth Sub-Committee has expanded the type of entries students can submit. From poems, to essays to self-made music, all Oak Park students are encouraged to submit an entry highlighting what Juneteenth means to them. Submissions are due by May 19 and the contest is open to all students who live in Oak Park and/or attend Oak Park schools. Winners of the contest will be announced at the June 18 Juneteenth Celebration event and five $500 prizes will be awarded.
