Citizens' Panel Joins Public Safety Team Members to Discuss Thoughts on Diversity

Recently, City Manager Erik Tungate organized a Citizens' Panel comprised of influential community members and representation from the Oak Park Public Safety Department to explore the perceptions of today's hot topics surrounding public safety and diversity. We discovered that when given the opportunity to work together and communicate with open dialogue we can enhance the safety of our community and that of our officers, alike. The City of Oak Park has long enjoyed a wonderful relationship with our community members and we look forward to serving and protecting our citizens throughout the years to come.

We wish to thank our panel members, including Marty Babayov, Founder and Owner of The Suit Depot; Clo Fowler, longtime Oak Park resident and former block club president and current block club member; Steven Gold, longtime Oak Park resident and Chairman of the Oak Park Communications Commission; and Patrick Peteet, Founder and Owner of Peteet's Famous Cheesecakes. We would also like to thank the members of our Public Safety team, including Oak Park Public Safety Director Steve Cooper, Deputy Director of Public Safety Mike Pinkerton; Detective Bureau Lieutenant Sam Kretzschmar, and Community Resource Officer Devin Benson.
