Oak Park, Mich. - Oak Park officials unveiled the city’s new Event Hub and Band Shell June 30 during the annual State of the City address. 

The evening began with the unveiling of a community mural on two exterior walls of the Event Hub, created in partnership with the Detroit Institute of Arts and artist Louise Jones (Ouizi).  

During his State of the City address, Oak Park City Manager Erik Tungate revealed the first renderings and details for Elevate Oak Park Phase 2—a transformational new community center designed to serve residents for generations to come. 

Plans include a year-round aquatic center with a pool and enclosed indoor/outdoor waterslide, zero-depth kids play area, lap lanes, cardio areas, gymnasium, pickleball courts, flexible programmable spaces and more. 

The project represents a major investment in Oak Park's future and the ongoing commitment to creating exceptional spaces for residents to gather, grow and thrive. 

City leadership also shared updates on the current budget, recently completed and upcoming project milestones like Oak Park Woods at Shepherd Park, the 11-Mile Water Tower Social District renovations and introduced the city's enhanced branding and city website. 

The celebration concluded with an incredible performance by Kimmie Horne bringing the community together for an evening filled with music, energy and Oak Park pride.
