The Building Division reviews construction drawings to ensure code compliance, issues residential and commercial permits, and performs related inspections. These are designed to protect the health, safety and welfare of Oak Park residents and business owners.

The Division, which is comprised of several inspectors, performs a variety of inspections including new business license inspections, rental housing inspections and new construction plumbing, mechanical, electrical and building inspections.

The Oak Park Event Hub, completed in June, 2026, is ready for your event!
This 4,200-square-foot, all-season event space is equipped with integrated audiovisual technology, roll-up garage doors for open-air programming, a commercial kitchen as well as indoor and outdoor seating.
With an adjacent band shell and a massive grassy area, this is the next level of event and entertainment venues.

Your public safety officers are cross trained as police officers, firefighters and first-response emergency-medical providers.
The Department of Public Safety is next to City Hall at 13800 Oak Park Blvd.
The Administration, Investigations, Fire Inspection, Records and Property offices are open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
