OAK PARK, Mich. - The City of Oak Park's 2025 Juneteenth Jubilee Communications and Public Relations Campaign has been named a finalist in the PR Campaign category of Ragan Communications' 2026 Corporate Social Responsibility Awards.
The recognition honors the communications strategy behind Oak Park's fifth annual Juneteenth Jubilee, which promoted education, awareness and community participation through digital outreach, media relations, community partnerships, youth engagement and storytelling.
"We are honored to be recognized as a finalist for this award and proud of what the Juneteenth celebration represents for our community," said City Manager Erik Tungate. "This recognition reflects the collective efforts of City staff, volunteers, community partners and residents who helped create an event that celebrates history, fosters understanding and brings people together."
Supported by the City's Arts & Cultural Diversity Commission, Juneteenth Subcommittee, local businesses, schools, sponsors and volunteers, the campaign utilized social media, email communications, website content, media outreach and grassroots promotion to engage residents and visitors.
The effort generated strong social media engagement, regional media coverage and broad community participation, including coverage by CBS Detroit and WDIV Local 4.
"I feel fortunate to work alongside a talented team, amazing City leadership and committed community partners," said Brittany Toth, communications director for the City of Oak Park. "We're grateful to help tell the story of an event that celebrates our community, brings people together and highlights the spirit that makes Oak Park unique."
The Corporate Social Responsibility Awards recognize organizations and campaigns that demonstrate excellence in social impact, community engagement and corporate responsibility. Award winners will be announced by Ragan Communications this fall.
