The US National Weather Service Detroit / Pontiac Michigan early today issued a severe thunderstorm warning for portions of Oakland County including Oak Park.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Oak Park Farmers Market is closed for the remainder of the day.

Additional City facilities remain open, and we are closely monitoring weather conditions and following established safety protocols. We will take additional protective actions if conditions warrant.

Please note: The outdoor warning siren activation was for North Oakland County and not the City of Oak Park. Oakland County Emergency Management sirens may be activated when the National Weather Service issues a tornado warning or a severe thunderstorm warning with winds of 70 mph or greater. Siren activations are based on county warning criteria and may not always be specific to Oak Park.
