The City of Oak Park wants to hear from residents about short-term rentals and their role in our community.

On Aug. 17, the Oak Park City Council approved a six-month moratorium on issuing new rental licenses for properties rented for 30 days or less. The temporary pause will allow the city time to evaluate whether additional regulations specific to short-term rentals are needed to support public safety, neighborhood stability and quality of life.

Oak Park currently regulates short-term and long-term rentals under the same licensing framework. As part of the review process, city staff is seeking input from residents to better understand community perspectives and priorities related to short-term rentals.
