Tyler Park Project Update
A dirt road in a grassy area with construction equipment in the background.

This joint park project involves both Berkley Schools and the City of Oak Park and will improve recreational amenities on each property. While the work is being completed collaboratively, the properties will remain two separate parcels following construction.

On the District side, a new varsity softball field is being built with lights, a permanent fence, dugouts, stands, a scoreboard, bullpens, and batting cages. The District property will also include a practice softball/baseball field for middle school students. On the City of Oak Park side, a multipurpose field will be updated to address drainage issues. A walking path will be added across both properties, creating a continuous connection from the parking lots to the fields for students, residents, and visitors to enjoy.

A small restroom facility will be constructed on the District side of the property. Following completion of the project, the City of Oak Park will assume responsibility for lawn maintenance and restroom upkeep. Additionally, three park benches will be installed on the City side of the property to provide additional seating for visitors.

Construction Update:

  • New dugout structures are nearly complete.
  • Concrete pads and edges have been poured for the batting cage on the home side and bullpens for both sides.
  • The concrete pad under the bleachers has been poured.
  • Utilities are being completed for the new restroom.
  • The prefabricated restroom structure has been delivered and will be connected to utility systems next.
  • The pathway around the park is being dug out, and concrete will be poured soon.
  • New trees, as part of the landscaping package, have been installed.
