The City of Oak Park Department of Public Works (DPW) will begin its annual curbside leaf collection program on Tuesday, Oct. 13, starting in Section 1. Collections will continue through Dec. 9.
Residents should use the collection schedule below to identify their section and collection dates. This map is the most accurate and up-to-date source for collection information.
In most cases, crews are in your area for more that one day, but the leaves must be placed at the curb on the date of your section’s collection, listed below. Due to the heavy workload, crews cannot come back to your home if your property was missed due to parked vehicles or for leaves that were not at the curb

Leaf Collection Guidelines
To help crews collect leaves efficiently and safely, residents are asked to follow these guidelines:
- Place leaves at the curb by 7 a.m. on the scheduled collection date for your section.
- Collection dates are tentative and may change due to weather conditions or equipment issues.
- The listed date is the first day crews will be in your section. Collection may continue over the following one or two days.
- Keep vehicles off the street until leaves in your area have been collected. Crews cannot return to locations blocked by parked vehicles.
- Rake leaves into a long row along the curb rather than placing them in a large pile.
- Leaf collection dates do not necessarily coincide with your regular trash collection day.
- Only leaves should be placed at the curb. Do not mix in branches, sticks, or other yard waste, which can damage collection equipment.
- Small amounts of leaves remaining after collection may be placed in paper yard waste bags for pickup on your regular trash day through mid-December.
- If weather conditions permit, DPW crews will sweep streets following the final round of leaf collection.
- Additional Disposal Option
- From mid-December through early April, Oak Park residents may drop off up to 10 bags of leaves per trip at SOCRRA, located at 995 Coolidge Highway, Troy, MI 48084.
- Residents with questions about leaf collection can contact the Department of Public Works or visit the city website for the latest schedule information and updates.
