The City of Oak Park Assessing Department determines the value of all real and personal property within the city. These valuations ensure assessments are fair, accurate and compliant with state law. The office maintains assessment records for all residential, commercial and industrial parcels.

The Assessing Office estimates the market value of property for tax purposes by discovering, identifying and classifying all taxable real and personal property. Staff analyze data, review local sales activity and evaluate new construction, additions and removals. Each year, the office assesses property as of Tax Day, Dec. 31.

The Assessing Office also compiles special assessment rolls, administers the Board of Review and maintains ownership records for all real and personal property within Oak Park.
