Tax Due Dates

Summer property taxes

  • Levied July 1
  • Payable July 1 through Aug. 31 without penalty

Winter property taxes

  • Levied Dec. 1
  • Payable Dec. 1 through Feb. 14 without penalty

Important:
 Payments must be received by the due date. Postmarks are not accepted.

Additional information

  • If your mortgage company pays your property taxes, the tax bill will be sent to them (if they have submitted a written request). You will receive an information copy.
  • Property owners are responsible for ensuring taxes are paid on time.
  • Failure to receive a tax statement does not remove the obligation to pay.
  • If you receive a tax bill in error, return it to the City of Oak Park, 14000 Oak Park Blvd.
  • A cancelled check serves as your receipt.
  • Payments returned by your bank are considered unpaid and are subject to a $30 returned‑payment fee in addition to penalties.
  • If you need a receipt mailed, include a self‑addressed stamped envelope.
  • Businesses operating on Tax Day (Dec. 31) are fully assessed for that year.

Payment Methods

There are four ways to pay your property‑tax bill:

  1. By Mail

     Payments must be received by the due date. Postmarks are not honored.
  2. In Person
     Treasury Division, City Hall

  3. Drop box
     In front of City Hall, 14000 Oak Park Blvd.
  4. Online payments
     Pay by debit card, credit card or eCheck using BS&A Online.
    Fees charged by the City’s payment processor, Point & Pay:
    • 3 percent fee for credit/debit cards ($1.50 minimum)
    • $1.50 for eCheck payments

Penalties

Summer taxes

  • Payments received after Sept. 1 incur a 4 percent penalty.
  • Starting Oct. 1, an additional 0.5 percent per month is added, up to a maximum of 6 percent total.

Winter taxes

  • Payments received after Feb. 14 incur a 3 percent penalty.

Delinquent taxes (March 1 and after)

  • Beginning March 1, all unpaid prior‑year taxes must be paid to the Oakland County Treasurer.
  • Additional county penalties and fees will apply.
  • If paying in March, request a revised statement from the Oak Park Treasury Division to include with your county payment.

Reminder: Postmarks are not accepted. Payments must be received by the due date.
