RESIDENTS
Adult Residents

Patrons who live or own property in Oak Park may obtain a library card at no cost. A valid Michigan State ID showing the resident's Oak Park address is required. A current utility bill, property tax statement, or rental agreement along with a picture ID may used in circumstances when the picture ID address has not been updated. The document must show the registrant's name and current Oak Park address. 

For patrons who own property, but do not live in Oak Park, a property tax statement addressed with the registrant's name is required.  

Youth Residents
Anyone ages 0 - 17 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian must present a valid Michigan State ID showing the resident's Oak Park address. A current utility bill, property tax statement, or rental agreement may used in circumstances when the picture ID has not been updated.  This document must show the parent's or legal guardian's name and current Oak Park address. 

NONRESIDENTS

Nonresident Students
A nonresident who attends school in Oak Park is eligible for a library card. A student under 18 years of age must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian must present a valid Michigan State ID showing their current address. In addition, students must show a current year report card, class schedule or student ID as proof that they attend school in Oak Park.

Nonresident Employees
A nonresident who works in Oak Park is eligible for a library card. The nonresident employee must provide a valid Michigan State ID with their current address. In addition, a current paystub must be presented showing the Oak Park business where they are employed.

The Library Network (TLN)
Oak Park Public Library participates in The Library Network, the largest library cooperative in Michigan. Patrons living in a community serviced by The Library Network (TLN) are entitled to reciprocal borrowing from other participating libraries. TLN member library patrons must present their home library card at checkout.

MILibraryCard Program
The Oak Park Public Library participates in MILibraryCard, a statewide library program.  This program allows residents to borrow books from participating libraries in the State of Michigan, subject to the local rules governing each participating library.

The Oak Park Public Library will loan materials to all library card holders with the valid MiLibraryCard label on their home library card, subject to our local rules and procedures.  MiLibraryCard card holders have computer access at Oak Park Public Library.

Item Checkout Limits and Fines
Oak Park Public Library does not charge overdue fees for any materials with the exception of wireless hotspots and those items borrowed through the Michigan Electronic Library catalog (MeLCat). All library materials must be returned on or before the due date. Items are declared lost once they become 21 days overdue, and a replacement fee is charged to the patron's account.
